La Trattoria Marrakech is one of Marrakech's most beloved restaurants, tucked away in the vibrant Gueliz neighbourhood. Known for its stunning outdoor pool, warm Moroccan atmosphere and exceptional Italian cuisine, it has earned its place as one of the city's most iconic dining destinations.
Over the years, the team at La Trattoria have become friends — and recently I had the honour of bringing my camera along for a full day of restaurant photography. With all-area access granted, I was able to document the entire experience: from the calm, focused energy of the professional kitchen to the magical atmosphere of the poolside terrace as evening fell.
What struck me most was the warmth and professionalism of the entire team. Despite the intensity of a busy service, the atmosphere in the kitchen remained remarkably calm — something that is rare, and that comes across in the photographs. The cooks, bartenders and waiting staff all brought a quiet dedication to their craft that made every frame worth capturing.
La Trattoria itself is a place of extraordinary beauty. The historic building, ornate Moroccan tilework, brass candlelight and lush garden create a setting that feels both timeless and alive. As night falls and the pool lights up, the entire restaurant transforms into something truly special.
This was my first restaurant photography project in Marrakech — and one I hope to return to. My sincere thanks go to everyone at La Trattoria for their hospitality and trust.
