Cassis, Summer 2026

Sep 2026

Cassis sits between the Calanques and the Mediterranean, a small port town on the coast east of Marseille. This series covers a few days there in summer 2026 — the old town, the beaches, the water.

The coastline around Cassis is defined by limestone cliffs dropping straight into the sea, with narrow coves cut in between. Plage du Bestouan, Plage de Corton and Plage de l'Arène each have a different character, from crowded town beach to quieter cove reachable only on foot.

Away from the beaches, the streets keep their working-town feel — faded shop signage, shuttered windows, balconies with laundry out to dry. Pétanque games and street music fill the squares in the evening.
